Estado de México reports high volumes of corruption and human rights complaints

The State of Mexico is implementing various administrative and cultural initiatives. The State Comptroller's Office reported over 62,000 control and evaluation actions, including more than 3,500 audits of executive branches and auxiliary organisms. Since September 2023, the office has received over 65,000 complaints against public servants, with some cases involving teacher placement sales and health sector irregularities being referred for criminal investigation.

In the realm of human rights, the State of Mexico Human Rights Commission (CODHEM) initiated 3,381 complaint files between January 1 and August 24, 2026. The most frequent complaints involved the State of Mexico Attorney General's Office (850), municipal governments (770), and the General Directorate of Prevention and Social Reintegration (564). CODHEM has issued six recommendations to date, targeting the Toluca City Council, the Atlacomulco City Council, the State of Mexico Integrated Educational Services (SEIEM), and the State Attorney General's Office.

Culturally, the State of Mexico is hosting the TransformARTE Grandparents' Day festival across 16 municipalities, featuring music, dance, and theater. Additionally, the Bicentennial Mexiquense Cultural Center (CCMB) in Texcoco is celebrating its 15th anniversary with five days of free activities, including concerts, workshops, and film screenings.
