Cofepris issues alert for counterfeit ADerogyl, Darzalex, and Simponi medications

Mexico's Federal Commission for Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris) has issued a sanitary alert regarding counterfeit and adulterated versions of several medications, including ADerogyl, Darzalex, and Simponi.

Specifically, an adulterated version of the multivitamin ADerogyl (containing retinol, ascorbic acid, and ergocalciferol) was identified. Sanofi Aventis de México reported that batch numbers CMXA036 and CMXA037 show anomalies, meaning the identity, purity, and efficacy of these products cannot be guaranteed.

Additionally, Cofepris identified counterfeit versions of the oncology treatment Darzalex (400 mg/20 mL) and Simponi (50 mg/0.5 mL). The authority warned that irregular products pose significant health risks as their manufacturing, storage, and ingredient concentrations are unknown.

Cofepris advises the public, medical personnel, and pharmacies to only purchase medications from authorized distributors and established establishments. Consumers are urged to carefully inspect packaging, batch numbers, and expiration dates for signs of tampering.
