Cofepris issues sanitary alerts after theft of medications and condoms in Mexico

Mexico’s Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris) has issued multiple sanitary alerts following the theft of various pharmaceutical products and sexual health items. The regulator warned that these stolen goods may be sold illegally through public streets or digital commerce platforms.

Among the affected medications is Sydolil, a migraine treatment containing acetylsalicylic acid, caffeine, and ergotamine. Specifically, lot 102910 (12 tablets of 400/50/1 mg) with an expiration date of July 7, 2026, was reported stolen by Siegfried Rhein. Cofepris noted that because the storage, transport, and handling conditions after the theft are unknown, the quality, safety, and efficacy of the drug cannot be guaranteed.

Additionally, Almacén de Drogas, S. A. reported the theft of Sinuberase (lot 5I132y, expiring April 2027) and Neo-Melubrina (lot FMX0999y, expiring June 2028). The alerts also include three lots of Prudence Clásico condoms (codes NV577602, NV577603, and NV580901) with expiration dates in July 2030. The authority emphasized that products sold outside authorized channels pose health risks due to unverified integrity.
