Coimbatore IG Ramya Bharathi criticized for smiling during 10‑year‑old murder case press conference

A 10‑year‑old girl was found murdered in the Sulur area of Coimbatore district, Tamil Nadu. Police arrested the suspects and senior officer IG Ramya Bharathi announced that action would be taken under the relevant law.

A video released on social media showed IG Bharathi and other officials smiling and laughing while speaking about the case, prompting widespread public condemnation and calls for disciplinary action.
