Coldiretti and Philip Morris Italia mark 15 years of tobacco agreement
Coldiretti and Philip Morris Italia held a meeting in Naples to mark the 15th anniversary of their tobacco supply chain agreement. The event, part of a regional roadshow, highlighted the economic impact of the partnership in the Campania region.
In Campania, the agreement accounts for more than 50% of the annual tobacco production purchased. This activity generates an estimated 24.8 million euros in added value annually and supports over 10,000 jobs. Within the Sannio area specifically, the agreement involves approximately 300 companies, 1,000 workers, and generates 7.5 million euros in value.
Looking forward, the partnership—which was signed in 2011 and renewed in 2024 for another decade—aims toward 2034 with planned investments of up to one billion euros. Officials emphasized the importance of innovation and skill development to maintain the stability of agricultural businesses and the local economy.
