Colima free hemodialysis saves families 200 million pesos

The Colima State Government reports that free hemodialysis services provided through the IMSS-Bienestar State Hemodialysis Center have saved local families more than 200 million pesos over nearly five years.

To date, the program has provided approximately 85,000 sessions to 662 patients. The service operates 24 hours a day, Monday through Saturday, and includes medications, supplies, and specialized medical attention. The program covers various specialties, including nephrology, internal medicine, general medicine, angiology, and ophthalmology.

Expansion of the service is ongoing. Since 2023, the Manzanillo General Hospital has offered hemodialysis in morning and afternoon shifts. Additionally, a new hemodialysis room began operations at the Tecomán General Hospital in May 2026, having already conducted 207 sessions for 10 patients.
