Hemodialysis service expansion in Colima, Mexico

Overview

The Colima State Government reported that free hemodialysis services provided through the IMSS-Bienestar State Hemodialysis Center have saved local families more than 200 million pesos over nearly five years. The program has provided approximately 85,000 sessions to 662 patients, offering 24-hour service that includes medications, supplies, and specialized medical attention across various specialties.

Expansion of these services is continuing. Since 2023, the Manzanillo General Hospital has provided hemodialysis in morning and afternoon shifts. Furthermore, a new hemodialysis room at the Tecomán General Hospital began operations in May 2026 and has already conducted 207 sessions for 10 patients.
