College principal assaulted inside mosque in Monpura

Md. Mohiuddin Mia, the principal of Bhola Nazirur Rahman College, was allegedly assaulted inside the Monpura Upazila Model Mosque on Sunday night. The incident occurred around 9:00 PM while the principal was attending a religious lecture following the Isha prayer.

The principal has accused leaders and activists of the Jubo Dal and Swechasebak Dal of orchestrating the attack. He claims the assault was directed by a local BNP vice president. According to the principal, the motive stems from a previous dispute involving the dismissal of a third-class employee, Md. Selim, during his tenure as the former principal of Monowara Begum Women's College.

Local political leaders from the Jubo Dal and Swechasebak Dal have denied involvement in the assault. They suggested the attack may have been an expression of grievance by the dismissed employee or his relatives.

Local authorities, including the Monpura Police Station, stated that legal proceedings are underway and efforts to apprehend the suspects are continuing. The Upazila Nirbahi Officer confirmed that legal action will be taken once a formal complaint is filed.
