College Students’ Priority‑Setting Improves Academic Success and Reduces Burnout
College students who establish clear priorities can better balance coursework, jobs, and personal life, leading to reduced stress and more efficient use of time. Effective priority‑setting helps students understand financial obligations, manage student loans, and plan for repayment, while self‑care practices prevent burnout.
At U‑High, senior Tessa Ritter exemplified this approach by enrolling in nine AP classes—including AP Calculus AB and BC, AP Biology, AP Statistics, and AP Physics—while maintaining involvement in cross‑country, student government, and clubs. She prioritized school first, then sports and extracurriculars, and emphasized choosing courses aligned with personal passion. Ritter’s disciplined schedule contributed to her acceptance to the U.S. Naval Academy, where she will receive a funded education and a future commission as a Navy officer.
