The American company Praxis has selected Uruguay as the site for its first physical community, a project described as a technology-oriented enclave focused on artificial intelligence. The initiative is expected to mobilize approximately US$ 1,000 million in investment over the next three years.

The project will be located within the +Colonia real estate development near Colonia del Sacramento. The first stage involves the urbanization of roughly 35 hectares, with an estimated 350,000 square meters of buildability. Praxis, led by Dryden Brown, aims to create a community that uses AI to coordinate services and activities under its own constitutional framework, though Brown noted that the project will initially operate within the existing Uruguayan legal system.

President Yamandú Orsi has stated that all investments must comply with national regulations. The project has drawn interest from significant Silicon Valley figures and venture capital funds, including those associated with Sam Altman and Peter Thiel.
