Colombia advances infrastructure and rural development projects

Colombia is advancing key infrastructure and rural development projects through significant investments. The expansion of the Universidad Industrial de Santander y de la Paz (UNIPAZ) campus in Barrancabermeja has reached 16.5% completion. This project, involving an investment of approximately $26 billion pesos, focuses on constructing a clinic module and a classroom building, with expected delivery between May and June 2027.

In the rural sector, the Fondo Colombia en Paz has secured US$135 million in international cooperation to scale the ‘Colombia Sostenible’ program. The funding includes US$100 million from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and US$35 million from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The second stage, ‘Colombia Sostenible Avanza: Paisajes Sostenibles,’ aims to integrate income generation, rural productivity, and environmental conservation to support small-scale producers and community organizations.
