Colombia advances major road and bridge infrastructure projects
Colombia is advancing two major infrastructure projects aimed at improving regional connectivity and logistics.
In Buenaventura, construction has entered a new phase with the demolition of houses to make way for a new internal alternative road. The project, which includes 12 kilometers of dual carriageway and a 10-hectare logistics yard for approximately 350 cargo vehicles, is expected to be completed in about two years. This road is part of the Buga-Buenaventura project, a critical corridor that handles between 40% and 45% of the country's international trade.
Separately, the contract for the Tibanica Bridge has been awarded to the Consorcio Corredor Vial ICCU 025 for approximately 118.9 billion pesos. The bridge will connect the Bosa locality in Bogotá with Soacha in Cundinamarca. The project includes 87 meters of bridge and 1,000 meters of new roadway, featuring two lanes per direction, cycle paths, and four exclusive lanes for mass transit. Construction is scheduled to begin in December 2026, with completion expected in the first half of 2028.
