Spain allocates 80 million euros for national heritage restoration
The Spanish government, through the 2% Cultural program, has approved 80 million euros to restore 78 historical monuments across 73 municipalities. This initiative, involving the Ministries of Housing, Transport, and Culture, aims to preserve and enhance Spain's historical, cultural, and artistic heritage.
Key projects include 4.22 million euros for the Monastery of Santa Catalina de Siena in Valladolid and 3.9 million euros for the Monastery of Sant Feliu de Guíxols in Girona. In Andalusia, significant funds are directed toward the Cathedral of Granada (1.69 million euros), the Palacio Vázquez de Molina in Úbeda (2.25 million euros), and the Castle of San Miguel in Almuñécar (1.097 million euros).
Other notable allocations include 3.72 million euros for the Monastery of San Martín Pinario in Santiago de Compostela and 3.06 million euros for heritage sites in Orihuela. The program also supports various regional projects, such as the restoration of the Alcázar of Guadalajara and the Colomer Zurita cloisters in Morella, to promote tourism and economic activity through cultural preservation.
