Spanish cultural heritage and tourism funding

Overview

The Spanish government has initiated significant funding for the preservation of national heritage through the 2% Cultural program. This 80 million euro allocation is designated for the restoration of 78 historical monuments across 73 municipalities, including major projects at the Monastery of Santa Catalina de Siena, the Cathedral of Granada, and the Monastery of San Martín Pinario.

At the regional level, local authorities have also announced specific investments. In Toledo, a cooperation agreement between the City and Provincial Councils will provide 350,000 euros to rehabilitate sections of the city wall, specifically addressing structural issues in the T9 and T10 towers. Meanwhile, the Seville Provincial Council has approved 19.5 million euros for the ‘Más Sevilla Turístico’ 2026 initiative, which focuses on tourism infrastructure and sustainable development across 44 municipalities.
