Colombia and Azerbaijan sign mutual visa waiver agreement

Colombia and Azerbaijan have signed a bilateral agreement to eliminate visa requirements for holders of ordinary passports. The agreement was signed by the foreign ministries of both nations during the United Nations General Assembly sessions in New York.

The measure aims to facilitate travel for tourism, short-term business, academic exchanges, and cultural activities. By reducing administrative barriers, the agreement seeks to strengthen commercial ties and institutional links between the two countries and encourage interaction with emerging markets in the South Caucasus region.

The visa exemption is not yet in immediate effect. Both governments must complete several diplomatic procedures, including the formal exchange of current passport specimens and respective verbal notes between the respective foreign ministries. An official start date will be announced once these institutional processes are finalized.
