Colombia and Peru advance environmental and sustainable investment initiatives
Colombia and Peru are advancing regional environmental strategies focused on sustainable development and climate action.
In Colombia, the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development has opened a call for the Environmental Compensation Fund for the 2027 and 2028 terms, with 112,883 million pesos available for 2027 investment. During the National Environmental System (Sina) meeting, Minister Fabio Arjona emphasized the implementation of the ABC Agenda (Water, Biodiversity, and Communities) and signed an agreement with environmental authorities to strengthen the management and control of hippopotamuses. Additionally, Montería has been named the host for Bioexpo 2027.
In Peru, the Ministry of Environment (Minam) is working to connect natural heritage with investment and innovation. During the Peru Sustainable Summit 2026, Vice Minister Fernando León Morales presented a portfolio aimed at mobilizing US$ 5.8 billion by 2030 for climate action, ecosystem conservation, and sustainable development. The ministry noted that sustainability is increasingly becoming a competitive business agenda, having already helped mobilize approximately US$ 500 million for territorial climate action in the Amazon over the last five years.
