Colombia and Switzerland sign trade and social security agreements
During an official working visit to Bern, Colombian Foreign Minister Ómar Bula formalized two significant bilateral agreements with Switzerland.
First, ProColombia and Switzerland Global Enterprise (S-GE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen commercial exchange. This partnership aims to facilitate the entry of Colombian goods and services into the Swiss market, promote joint investment, and increase tourism from Central Europe. The agreement includes technical information exchange and support for small and medium-sized enterprises looking to export.
Second, the governments signed a Binational Social Security Convention. This treaty allows workers to totalize their service time and contribution weeks accumulated in both Colombia and Switzerland. This mechanism ensures that citizens who have worked in both nations can combine their contributions to meet the requirements for retirement, disability, or survivor pensions, preventing the loss of accumulated social security benefits.
