Colombia appoints new health leadership roles
Colombia has appointed new leadership for key health oversight and cooperation roles. Mónica Rocío Lombana García has been sworn in as the acting National Superintendent of Health. A physician with specializations in Hospital Management and Health Quality Management, Lombana has worked within the National Superintendency of Health since 2020. Her mandate focuses on strengthening inspection, surveillance, and control of the Colombian health system and protecting its resources.
Simultaneously, Ana Rivière Cinnamond has assumed the role of representative for the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) in Colombia. A Spanish veterinarian with experience leading the PAHO office in Panama, Rivière Cinnamond succeeds Gina Tambini Gómez. Her role involves managing technical cooperation with national sanitary authorities and institutions to address public health agendas.
