Colombia appoints new leaders for health regulatory agencies

Colombia has appointed new leadership for key health regulatory bodies. The Ministry of Health and Social Protection has designated Hanna Dimelsa Escobar Correa as the director of Medicines and Health Technologies. A pharmaceutical chemist by training, Escobar previously served at the Antioquia Secretariat of Health and Social Inclusion. Her new role involves overseeing pharmaceutical policy, including drug regulation, market monitoring, supply tracking, and price policy support.

Additionally, Sindy Pahola Pulgarín Madrigal has been appointed as the new general director of INVIMA, replacing Francisco Rossi. Pulgarín Madrigal is a bacteriologist and project management specialist with expertise in the sanitary regulation of biological products. Her professional background includes roles within INVIMA, clinical research management for AUNA, and representing Colombia in regulatory harmonization discussions with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
