Colombia coffee growers prepare for 2026 federation elections

Colombian coffee growers are preparing for the 2026 coffee elections, which will determine representatives for the National Federation of Coffee Growers. The elections will feature both electronic voting from September 1 to 3 and in-person voting on September 5 and 6.

Approximately 350,000 people are eligible to vote, representing a 3.91% increase compared to 2022. From a pool of over 18,000 candidates, four will be selected to serve as leaders across 389 municipal committees and 15 departmental committees. The electoral process will be monitored by more than 400 observers from the Electoral Observation Mission (MOE).

In the Llanos region, 2,302 producers are eligible to vote across the municipalities of Florencia (Caquetá), Tamara (Casanare), and Lejanías (Meta). The elections aim to strengthen institutional inclusivity, specifically targeting increased participation from women and youth across 23 coffee-producing departments.
