Colombia coffee production falls 12% in August

Colombia's coffee production fell by 12% in August to 1.09 million 60-kg bags compared to the same month last year. This marks the second consecutive month of decline, driven by harvest delays caused by climate variability and heavy rainfall earlier in the year.

Germán Bahamón, general manager of the National Federation of Coffee Growers (Fedecafe), stated that the decrease aligns with anticipated productive adjustments. Over the last 12 months, total production dropped 15% to 12.58 million bags.

Coffee exports also saw a contraction, falling 10% in August to 1.05 million bags. For the cumulative 12-month period, external sales decreased by 12% to 11.69 million bags, a result Bahamón attributed to lower availability.

Cenicafé, the national coffee research center, projects a total harvest of 12.2 million bags for the 2026 coffee year based on technical field monitoring.
