Colombia entities offer debt and tax relief discounts
Various entities in Colombia are implementing programs to facilitate debt settlement through interest and penalty discounts.
In Montería, Veolia has launched the ‘Octubre Sin Deudas’ campaign. The initiative offers a 100% discount on late interest, up to 50% on debts older than one year, and 20% on financing options for eligible users during October.
In the Atlántico department, the Gobernación del Atlántico is offering a 70% discount on interests and sanctions for tax obligations from 2025 and earlier. This benefit, established via Ordinance 000682 of 2026, is available until October 31, 2026, and covers obligations currently under administrative or judicial discussion.
In Bogotá, the Secretaría Distrital de Movilidad is providing a 60% discount on interest for traffic fines and other overdue obligations. To qualify, debtors must pay 100% of the principal amount. This measure applies to traffic infractions and existing payment agreements but excludes penalties related to driving under the influence of alcohol or psychoactive substances.
