Colombia football legends to play charity match for earthquake relief

Former Colombian footballer Mario Yepes has organized a charity match titled ‘Levantemos a Colombia’ to support victims of the 7.4 magnitude earthquake that struck the country on August 10. The event is scheduled for Friday, August 21, at El Campín stadium in Bogotá.

All proceeds from the match will be donated to families and communities in the affected municipalities and departments. While the full roster of participating football legends has not yet been confirmed, the initiative aims to unite citizens, companies, and fans to aid reconstruction efforts.

According to the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD), the earthquake has resulted in 289 deaths, 4,187 injuries, and 143 people missing. The disaster also caused significant structural damage, with 26,945 homes destroyed and 127,557 damaged.
