United States transfers criminals to El Salvador's CECOT prison

United States President Donald Trump has highlighted a security cooperation agreement with the administration of El Salvador involving the transfer of individuals linked to serious crimes, such as homicide and drug trafficking, to the Centro de Confinamento del Terrorismo (CECOT) in El Salvador.

Trump shared footage of the transfers on social media, claiming that such measures contribute to historic lows in homicides and other crimes within the United States. The initiative is part of a broader bilateral strategy between the U.S. and the government of Nayib Bukele aimed at neutralizing transnational organized crime.
