Colombia inflation reaches 6.24% annually

Colombia's annual inflation reached 6.24% as of August 2026, according to data from the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE). The monthly variation for the country was recorded at 0.39%, bringing the year-to-date accumulation to 5.35%.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages have been significant drivers of price increases, with the category rising 7.16% so far this year. Specific products saw substantial hikes, including potatoes at 56.31%, tree tomatoes at 52.76%, and various tubers such as arracacha and yam at 47.48%.

Regional variations show diverse economic pressures. In Cúcuta, monthly inflation hit 0.61%, driven largely by fresh fruits and rent increases. Cúcuta's annual inflation stands at 6.02%. Meanwhile, Neiva reported an annual inflation rate of 5.69%, which remains below the national average, despite a monthly increase of 0.49% in August.
