Colombia JEP imputes former general and FARC commanders
The Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP) in Colombia has issued imputations against several high-profile figures for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Retired General Mario Montoya Uribe has been charged with responsibility by omission regarding crimes committed against residents of Comuna 13 in Medellín during Operation Orion between 2001 and 2004. The investigation concluded that military and police forces collaborated with paramilitaries to consolidate the Cacique Nutibara Block, facilitating homicides, forced disappearances, torture, and sexual violence.
Additionally, the JEP has charged 11 former commanders of the defunct FARC-EP Magdalena Medio and Caribe blocks. Among those implicated are former FARC Secretariat members Rodrigo Londoño, known as Timochenko, and Pastor Lisandro Alape Lascarro. The charges against these former guerrilla leaders include homicide, forced displacement, intentional attacks against civilian populations, and the destruction of protected sites such as hospitals and schools.
