Colombia Ministry of Agriculture and Grupo Éxito partner for direct farm sales

The Colombian Ministry of Agriculture and Development Rural has established an institutional agreement with Grupo Éxito to facilitate the direct purchase of agricultural products from small and medium-sized producers. This partnership aims to reduce intermediaries in the supply chain, ensuring more stable sales channels and increasing profitability for rural workers.

The initiative is estimated to generate commercial opportunities exceeding 1.2 trillion Colombian pesos annually. To support this, the Ministry has launched the Agro-commercial Integration Credit Line, a financial mechanism that allows large retailers to provide advances to farmers for future harvests based on agreed-upon sales commitments.

A pilot business round is scheduled for October 25, 2026, in the municipalities of Villapinzón and Chocontá, Cundinamarca. This initial event will involve potato producers and representatives from the Colombian Federation of Potato Producers (Fedepapa) to establish direct supply agreements.
