Colpensiones chief Jaime Dussán ordered arrested for contempt, sparking pension‑system unrest in Colombia

A judge in Marinilla, Antioquia ordered five days of arrest and a fine of five minimum wages against Jaime Dussán Calderón, president of the public pension administrator Colpensiones. The sanction stems from an alleged contempt of a tutela that required the agency to correct a citizen’s labor‑history records. Dussán said the entity will appeal the decision.

The ruling arrives as Colpensiones grapples with widespread technical failures that have blocked millions of users from accessing the digital platform and completing pension‑related procedures. The agency, which manages more than 7.2 million affiliates and about 1.9 million pensioners, is at the centre of Colombia’s ongoing pension‑reform debate. The arrest order has heightened concern among affiliates and added pressure on the government’s reform agenda.

Colpensiones has responded by extending in‑person service hours and reinforcing its communication channels while it prepares the legal appeal.
