Colombia police capture two gang leaders in Cali

Colombian National Police arrested two high-ranking members of the criminal organization La Nueva Generación del Freseo during an operation in Cali, Valle del Cauca. The detainees include Joel Llanes, known as alias ‘Joel Piraña’, identified as the group’s second-in-command, and Eduardo Correa, known as alias ‘Rulay’, who served as the organization’s hitman coordinator.

According to President Abelardo De La Espriella, alias ‘Joel Piraña’ acted as the primary link to the gang’s leader, alias ‘El Menor’. His responsibilities reportedly included coordinating selective homicides, managing extortion, overseeing narcotics activities, and administering illicit revenues. The gang primarily operates in Barranquilla and Soledad, Atlántico, where they have allegedly targeted merchants and business owners through threats and extortion.

The arrests are part of the presidential BOSUR strategy, aimed at weakening the command structure of criminal organizations. Authorities continue to pursue the group's primary leader, William Vizcaíno, alias ‘El Menor’.
