Colombian law enforcement operations against criminal groups
Overview
Colombian authorities have conducted several operations targeting high-level criminal networks. In Barranquilla, a joint operation with the FBI, known as ‘Operation Lanza Roja’, led to the capture of two Mexican nationals, ‘La Patrona’ and ‘Pau’. They are accused of acting as intermediaries to facilitate a criminal alliance between the Jalisco New Generation Cartel and the Clan del Golfo, specifically coordinating cocaine logistics from the Caribbean coast to Central America, the United States, and Europe.
In a separate action in Cali, the Colombian National Police arrested two high-ranking members of the La Nueva Generación del Freseo organization: Joel Llanes, alias ‘Joel Piraña’, and Eduardo Correa, alias ‘Rulay’. Llanes reportedly served as the primary link to the group’s leader, alias ‘El Menor’, and was involved in managing extortion, narcotics, and homicides. These arrests were part of the presidential BOSUR strategy to dismantle criminal command structures.
