Colombia proposes tax deadline extensions following earthquake

The Colombian Ministry of Finance has proposed a draft decree to extend tax deadlines for individuals and liquid successions in regions affected by the August 10 earthquake. The measure aims to provide relief for income tax declarations for the 2025 taxable year, as well as obligations related to withholdings at the source.

Initial municipalities included in the proposal are Cali, Palmira, Tuluá, and Buenaventura in Valle del Cauca; Pereira in Risaralda; Armenia in Quindío; Manizales in Caldas; Quibdó in Chocó; and Popayán in Cauca. The list may expand if the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD) officially certifies other municipalities as severely affected. The extension addresses difficulties caused by the earthquake, including damage to DIAN facilities that has hindered in-person services.
