Colombia reports two motorcycle‑linked killings in Cauca and Huila

In the rural municipality of Guachené, Cauca department, 42‑year‑old welder Eugenio Banguero Vergara was shot dead after two armed men on motorcycles intercepted his vehicle on the La Cabañita road. The attack, described as a targeted execution, occurred as he returned to the area for a family gathering and has raised concerns about gang‑related violence in the region.

In the neighbouring Huila department, 38‑year‑old farmer David Zea Murcia was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the Santa Helena vereda near the highway linking Neiva with Balsillas. Witnesses say unidentified men on motorcycles pursued and fired upon him, leaving his body for locals to discover. Police investigators from the Seccional de Investigación Criminal are collecting evidence and conducting autopsies to identify the perpetrators in both cases.
