Colombia sees steady 2026 economic growth and rising employment
Colombia’s economy continued its recovery in the first half of 2026, with improved employment, private investment and stable inflation creating a favourable environment for consumption and business expansion. The government kept pushing infrastructure, energy transition and regional development projects to boost competitiveness and attract further investment.
In the Huila department, gross domestic product grew 2.7% in the same period, slightly above the national 2.6% pace. Growth was led by agriculture, commerce and a modest rebound in construction, while manufacturing also showed signs of recovery. The local chamber of commerce warned that the rise in business closures and high production costs remain a concern for the regional economy.
