Urban services and security updates in Bogotá, Quito, and San Miguelito

Various urban services and security measures are being implemented across several Latin American cities.

In Bogotá, the Empresa de Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Bogotá has scheduled water service interruptions for August 25 in the Ciudad Bolívar, Chapinero, Suba, and Soacha areas due to maintenance and repairs. Additionally, the Bogotá City Council approved an extension of the TransMilenio transfer window, increasing the time allowed for passengers to switch services from 125 to 150 minutes.

Traffic restrictions (Pico y Placa) are active in multiple locations. In Quito, vehicles with plates ending in 3 and 4 are restricted during morning and afternoon/evening windows. In Medellín, Bogotá, Bucaramanga, and Cúcuta, specific plate rotations are in effect to manage congestion, with varying schedules and penalties for non-compliance.

In San Miguelito, Panama, the first week of the ‘Enfoque Distrito’ security operation resulted in 565 apprehensions, including 49 minors, for violations of local decrees. Authorities also seized various illicit substances and ammunition during the operation.
