Salta Civil Registry investigation advances after evidence admission

Judicial authorities in Salta, Argentina, have admitted evidence in an investigation into an illegal network selling official documents. The scheme involved the unauthorized sale of birth, marriage, and death certificates through the Civil Registry.

According to the prosecution, a parking permit holder acted as a middleman, soliciting clients in public spaces and offering to ‘manage’ documents for a fee. The documents were then issued as ‘official procedures’ by accomplices within the registry, allowing them to bypass required fees.

Four individuals are currently facing charges, including a former legal advisor to the Civil Registry, two employees from the Archive office, and the parking permit holder. The suspects are accused of fraud against public administration, extortion, and illicit association.
