Colombian Army neutralizes five explosives in Cauca
The Colombian National Army's Third Division neutralized five improvised explosive devices (IEDs) on the Pan-American Highway in the Patía municipality of Cauca. The operation was conducted by the MARTE Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group following an attack the previous night.
Presumed members of the Carlos Patiño organized armed group (GAO-r) reportedly launched explosives at the facilities of the 29th Instruction, Training, and Retraining Battalion. Military units discovered and neutralized the devices inside a van in the El Estrecho sector to mitigate risks to civilians and troops.
While traffic on the Pan-American Highway has returned to normal, the military has announced it will intensify operations and strengthen its presence in the Cauca department to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of the transit corridor.
