Colombian artisans showcase cultural heritage in Paris
Colombian cultural delegations from La Guajira and Valledupar are participating in the ‘Territorios Vivos París 2026’ initiative in France. Organized by Asodamas de Colombia, the event takes place during Paris Fashion Week to showcase ancestral knowledge, arts, and female leadership on an international stage.
In La Guajira, the Casa del Artesano is supporting artisan Lays Carolina Móvil Gámez and her brand ALEWASHI. Her work, ‘Latidos de Woumain’, features hand-woven Wayuu crochet bags inspired by local biodiversity, including pink flamingos and the Guajira cardinal. The program includes a museum exhibition titled ‘Hilos de Territorio’ and a runway show titled ‘El Nuevo Lujo Latinoamericano’ scheduled for October 3.
Valledupar is also making its first appearance at the event, sending a delegation of cultural leaders and designers to connect Latin American identities with French audiences. The initiative aims to promote economic sustainability and territorial development through the recognition of traditional crafts and creative economies.
