Colombian authorities seize cash and arrest suspects in Ricaurte and Santa Marta

Police in Cundinamarca stopped a motorcycle in Ricaurte and found more than 111 million Colombian pesos in a suitcase belonging to 23‑year‑old Joan David Sánchez García. He was detained on suspicion of money‑laundering after failing to provide any documentation for the cash.

In a separate operation in Santa Marta, a joint task force involving the Gaula Militar, the CTI of the Fiscalía and the Sijín police unit captured a suspected member of the criminal group “Los Pachenchas”. The suspect, linked to the Autodefensas Conquistadoras, was seized with cash, a mobile phone and his motorcycle after being identified as the person who collected extortion payments from local businesses.

Both arrests are part of ongoing security efforts against organized crime in Colombia.
