Colombia implements widespread security and mobility measures for Halloween
Various Colombian municipalities have activated special security, mobility, and commercial protocols for the Halloween weekend. In Medellín, the district administration authorized extended operating hours for nightlife establishments in 11 zones, such as Provenza and Manila, allowing service until 4:00 a.m. to support local economic activity. However, Parque Lleras is excluded from this extension.
Security forces have deployed significant resources across several regions. In La Guajira, over 1,000 police officers are patrolling 15 municipalities to protect families. In Antioquia, the National Police announced preventive measures across 125 municipalities, emphasizing child safety and candy inspection. Bogotá has deployed 400 officers to monitor motorcycle restrictions and prevent unauthorized convoys.
Mobility restrictions are also in effect. Montería has prohibited motorcycle passenger transport and restricted circulation on several main roads. Rionegro has implemented a ban on motorcycle passengers and certain vehicle types to maintain public order. In Soacha, traffic agents are managing road closures and reversible lanes, while Ibagué has scheduled partial closures on Carrera Quinta for a costume parade. Other cities, including Cúcuta and Cartagena, have established unified command posts to manage traffic and prevent accidents during festivities.
