Colombian cities launch new cultural funding and community art programs

Various local governments in Colombia are launching initiatives to promote and fund cultural activities. In Bogotá, the Mayor's Office, through the Gilberto Alzate Avendaño Foundation (FUGA), has opened six calls under the ‘Más Cultura Local’ program. This initiative offers 67 incentives to strengthen the creative ecosystem in the La Candelaria, Santa Fe, and Los Mártires districts, targeting both new and established cultural agents.

In Manizales, the Secretariat of Culture and Civics is implementing several community-focused projects. These include the inauguration of the ‘Viaje al pasado’ exhibition at the University of Caldas, which uses photography, modeling, and engraving to revitalize the Pinacoteca art collection. Additionally, the city is offering the ‘Generación Filminutos’ workshop in the La Enea community to teach short-form video storytelling, and the ‘Cultura en la Calle’ strategy, which brings artistic activities directly to neighborhoods like Sinaí to strengthen social ties.
