Colombian coffee elections scheduled for September 2026
The National Federation of Coffee Growers (FNC) has announced the 2026 coffee elections, scheduled to take place in September. The voting process will include electronic elections from September 1 to 3, followed by in-person voting on September 5 and 6. The elections will be monitored by more than 400 observers from the Electoral Observation Mission (MOE).
According to the 2026 Coffee Census, 349,983 people are eligible to vote nationwide, marking a 3.91% increase compared to the 2022 elections. In the department of Antioquia, 44,977 producers are eligible, while in Cauca, 42,695 producers are authorized to vote. The elections will span 23 departments and 611 municipalities.
More than 18,000 candidates have applied for the positions, an 11% increase from 2022. This group includes over 5,000 women (29%) and more than 1,600 young people (9%). The winners will select 4,848 leaders to integrate 389 Municipal Committees and 15 Departmental Committees. The elected leaders will serve during the period leading up to the FNC's centenary in 2027.
