Colombian councilor Andrés Felipe Rodríguez investigated for bombarding remarks
The Colombian Procuraduría General de la Nación opened a disciplinary investigation into Medellín councilor Andrés Felipe Rodríguez, known as “El Gury”, over statements made on 23 June during a municipal council session. He urged that "the next attacks, bombings, should be directed toward the zones where Iván Cepeda won with over 80 % of the vote," calling the areas "bandidos of the country."
The Regional Office of Instruction in Antioquia will determine whether the remarks were made in the exercise of his official duties and whether they constitute a disciplinary offense or possibly a criminal act. The Defensoría del Pueblo also condemned the comments, stating they promote hate speech, territorial profiling and could amount to serious conduct subject to criminal investigation.
The inquiry is limited to the content of the council session and does not address other complaints lodged by citizens.
