Colombian fashion designers expand international presence
Colombian fashion designers are expanding their international presence through diverse cultural and social initiatives. Under the ‘Puente Internacional’ program by the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, eight Colombian brands showcased their collections at New York Fashion Week. The participating designers presented varied aesthetics, including Valentina Anzola García of Ciento Cinco Lunares, whose work draws inspiration from the labor of women in the global south, and Liza Herrera Contreras, who features hand-woven footwear created by Colombian female heads of household.
In a separate initiative titled ‘Misión 11,’ designer Mauricio Souza is leading eleven Colombian children on a trip to Paris to experience haute couture. The project, a collaboration with Titán Plaza and the Segundos de Vida Foundation, aims to connect the fashion experience with social solidarity. Before traveling to France, the children will participate in activities to meet and support children with oncological diagnoses from the foundation, working to help fulfill their dreams.
