Colombian fashion industry focuses on technology and economic recovery
The Colombian fashion and textile sectors are focusing on technological integration and economic recovery through specialized industry events.
In Medellín, the inaugural Nextech by Colombiatex concluded at Plaza Mayor, drawing over 5,000 attendees and featuring 118 brands from 25 countries. The event emphasized the necessity of digital transformation, covering topics such as artificial intelligence, blockchain for traceability, automation, and omnichannel retail to help the industry compete globally. Sebastián Díez, executive president of Inexmoda, noted that the evolution of Colombian fashion requires integrating technology into business processes to meet the demands of digitalized consumers.
Simultaneously, in Dosquebradas, the ‘DO RE MI’ initiative is utilizing fashion and culture to drive economic reconstruction following recent earthquake damage. The strategy aims to stimulate local consumption and protect jobs by connecting affected businesses with new markets. A recent fashion runway featuring more than 23 brands, including Totto and KOAJ, showcased the region's textile and garment strength to encourage local support for recovering enterprises.
