Costa Rica seizes over four tons of cocaine in four days
Costa Rican authorities have seized more than four tons of cocaine over a four-day period through three separate anti-drug operations. These operations, conducted with support from the U.S. DEA and maritime patrol aircraft, included a major maritime interception in the South Pacific near Cabo Matapalo, where 1,175 kilograms of cocaine were recovered from a vessel carrying three Colombian nationals.
Other significant seizures occurred in the Térraba-Sierpe Wetland, involving 3,077 packages of cocaine, and at the Moín Container Terminal in Limón, where 52 kilograms were confiscated.
In parallel, security forces across Colombia and Ecuador have conducted various operations against organized crime. In Colombia, military and police actions resulted in the surrender of armed group members in Nariño and Antioquia, the capture of a Clan del Golfo leader in Zaragoza, and the dismantling of a drug trafficking network in La Guajira. In Ecuador, the 'Muralla' operation led to the arrest of four leaders of the Comandos de la Frontera group in several provinces, while another operation targeted an extortion ring linked to 'Los Lobos'.
