Colombian police capture theft suspects in Melgar and El Pital
National police in Colombia captured suspects linked to a series of thefts in the municipalities of Icononzo and Melgar, Tolima. The operation followed community tips that helped locate the individuals responsible for multiple shop robberies, and authorities said the arrests are part of ongoing efforts to improve security for local merchants and residents.
In a separate operation in El Pital, Huila, police detained a man accused of stealing 10 million Colombian pesos from a merchant. The suspect was found with the stolen cash, a handgun, its magazine and ammunition, all of which were seized. The recovered money was returned to the victim, and the detainee was handed over to the Fiscalía for further legal proceedings.
