Colombian police launch safety and theft prevention campaigns

The Colombian National Police have launched targeted safety and prevention initiatives in Valle del Cauca and Bogotá to address road safety and vehicle crime.

In Valle del Cauca, authorities are strengthening road security during the school holiday period. Through the “¡No más excusas en la vía!” campaign, the police are deploying prevention posts and awareness strategies across major corridors. The initiative aims to protect travelers by encouraging responsible driving, strictly enforcing traffic regulations, and urging motorists to avoid speeding and driving under the influence.

In Bogotá, the National Police, in coordination with the Mayor's Office and the Secretariat of Security, have introduced the “No se la pongamos fácil” campaign to combat vehicle and motorcycle theft. Data indicates that 72% of vehicle thefts in the capital occur via the “halado” method, often because vehicles are left in public spaces. The campaign promotes the use of GPS tracking, remote immobilization technology, and physical security devices to create barriers against criminals.
