Public safety and security initiatives in Colombia

Overview

Colombian authorities have implemented various safety and security measures across multiple regions. In Valle del Cauca and Bogotá, the National Police launched campaigns such as “¡No más excusas en la vía!” to improve road safety and “No se la pongamos fácil” to combat vehicle and motorcycle theft.

In Antioquia, officials activated work fronts to manage road emergencies and closures ahead of holiday travel, including a total closure of the Concordia–Betulia road due to a geological fault. Additionally, the ‘Plan 90 Días por la Seguridad’ in Marinilla reported a 59.5% reduction in common theft and significant increases in drug seizures, alongside the arrest of individuals linked to local drug trafficking.
