Colombian police seize drug dealer, extortionists and murder suspects in sweeping crime crackdown

Police operations across Colombia resulted in a series of high‑profile arrests. In the Barranquilla suburb of Galapa, officers detained a 23‑year‑old carrying 192 doses of coca base weighing 132.7 g, valued at roughly 2.5 million pesos, along with a mobile phone used for coordination. In Bogotá and the neighboring municipality of Soacha, the GAULA unit captured two alleged members of the Los Satanás extortion ring, known as “Jhon” and “Muelón”, who are accused of threatening merchants and face charges of extortion, illegal weapons possession and drug trafficking. In the department of Huila, authorities apprehended two suspects, aliases “Rambo” and “Hernán”, linked to the murder of police officer Karen Pajoy in La Plata, a crime tied to the Hernando González Acosta front of the Central Isaías Pardo illegal armed group.

A broader crackdown in Bogotá’s capital district led to the detention of 2,785 criminals in May, including 73 alleged homicide perpetrators. Operations also dismantled an illegal water‑bottling site, the “Tren del Llano” marijuana network in Engativá, several pagadiario drug‑selling points, a cellphone‑theft suspect, and the “Los Olivares” drug‑trafficking gang, seizing weapons, drugs and large amounts of cash.
