Colombian police seize theft suspect and intimidation perpetrators in Magdalena

Police officers from the National Police’s Plan Cazador captured a man in flagrante in Ciénaga, Magdalena, after a theft of a gold chain and ring valued at about eight million pesos. The stolen jewelry was recovered, and the suspect was transferred to the Prosecutor’s Office and placed in a detention center.

In a separate operation, police arrested two individuals accused of distributing threatening flyers that shut down the municipality of Fundación for 24 hours. The raid in San Diego, Cesar, seized a pistol, ammunition, a fragmentation grenade, mobile phones, the pamphlets and the device used to spread the threats via Facebook. Investigators linked the suspects to the Autodefensas Gaitanistas de Colombia (AGC), which allegedly tried to disguise the threats as coming from the group “Los Primos.” Governor Margarita Guerra praised the police response, noting the captures as a step toward restoring calm in Fundación.
